Ceramic tableware refers to silicate products made mainly of inorganic non-metals and fired through certain production processes, including boxes, plates, plates, bowls, cups, cans, pots, and other ceramic tableware products. Ceramic tableware has the advantages of advanced craftsmanship, diverse forms, and exquisite art style, which is very in line with Chinas traditional aesthetic views. To help consumers scientifically choose and use ceramic tableware, the following consumption tips are specially made.

1. The difference between glaze colored tableware, glaze colored tableware, and underglaze colored tableware

Common ceramic tableware is mainly divided into two categories: decorated and non decorated. Decorative ceramic tableware can be divided into overglaze colored tableware, overglaze colored tableware, and underglaze colored tableware. The most important difference among these three products is the difference in coloring process and firing temperature. Glaze colored tableware is a decorative method that uses glaze pigments or stickers and other decorative materials made from them to decorate the glazed surface of products, and is baked at temperatures below 900 ℃. Glaze colored tableware is a decorative method that uses pigments or stickers made from them that can withstand certain high temperatures to decorate the glaze surface of glazed bodies or products. It is fired at the same or near the same temperature during glaze firing, and the pigments sink and fuse in the glaze. Underglaze colored tableware is a decorative method that uses underglaze pigments or stickers made from them to decorate the surface of precision, plain fired, and glazed bodies, and then covers them with a layer of glaze, which is fired at high temperature.

From the perspective of decorative effects, glazed tableware has bright colors and a textured feel when touched by hand; Overglaze and underglaze colored tableware are generally more elegant, with a smooth surface to the touch and less vibrant colors than overglaze colored tableware. Ceramic tableware should comply with the National Food Safety Standard for Ceramic Products (GB 4806.4-2016), which mainly specifies the migration limits and sensory requirements for lead and cadmium in ceramic tableware. From the perspective of food safety, any product that meets the national food safety standards is safe. However, glazed tableware is prone to friction damage during use, resulting in the detachment of decorative colors. Overglaze and underglaze colored tableware are less prone to this problem due to friction.

2. Selection of ceramic tableware

It is recommended to choose ceramic tableware from legitimate sales outlets and pay attention to whether the product is labeled with the factory name, implementation standards, usage precautions, etc. Do not purchase "three no" products. Try to choose products with relatively light colors or products processed with underglaze color technology (usually touch the pattern with your hands, there will be no unevenness). Whenever possible, try to avoid purchasing ceramic tableware products that have a larger contact area with food or have more decorative patterns on the surface in contact with food.

3. The use of ceramic tableware

After purchasing ceramic tableware, consumers can first boil the tableware with boiling water (or add a certain amount of vinegar dropwise), soak it, and then use it. In addition to its bactericidal and disinfection effects, it can effectively reduce the risk and harm of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium leaching. If the surface decoration of ceramic tableware is significantly worn or missing due to improper use or prolonged use, it is recommended to replace it in a timely manner.
